Assassin’s Creed Rebellion is the new episode of the Assassin’s Creed franchise on iOS and Android released by Ubisoft Entertainment. Lately, the franchise received a bunch of criticism, Ubisoft being criticized for released new games without much changes and game mechanics and basically just making the most of assassin’s creed past success. So is Assassin’s Creed Rebellion going to follow the same path?

Actually not. I had some doubts about this new title and didn’t really want to play but eventually, I found the gameplay mechanics simple but adding variety and interesting enough to play a couple of hours more.

Gameplay

Assassin’s Creed Rebellion is a 2D platform game  adding a bit of verticality. In a nutshell,  the level are played across various level of a houses, castles,etc..so you have to move up and down. Then, you have to compose a team of assassin’s selected based on their skills such as power, infiltration,etc..the reason is that during your missions you will be facing obstacles and chance of success will be based on your assassin’s skills. For instance, it will be easier to disarm traps with the Specialist class, but on the other hand, your Specialist might be weak against a guard. So it requires a bit of planning because if their is a guard in the same roon as the trap, you’ll fight the guard with the Specialist.

Build a brotherhood using Specialist, Shadow and Enforcer class

Missions are divided in 3: Standard missions, Legacy missions and Story missions. Each mission will reward you with items such as gold, wood, new assassins…

Aside doing missions, you will have to build and upgrade your HQ, adding relaxation or training to upgrade your characters,…

Graphics

Assassin’s Creed Rebellion is a 2D platform game, so nothing too crazy to say about graphics except that they are pleasant to look and won’t attack your eyes. The graphics are colorful but unfortunately after playing a couple of hours I felt that the environment were a bit too similar.

The menu are great though, you can navigate in your house, menu, assassin’s team and all is perfectly smooth.

Sounds

Nothing much to say here. Ubisoft does the job without providing a exceptional soundtrack. I played a couple of times without sounds and didn’t even notice it.

Story

During my last trip I watched the Assassin’s Creed movie and the game story gravitates around the period, in Spain during the inquisition. Torquemada is the main villain along with Ojeda, it’s loyal Templar. As you progress, you will have to collect intel and counter the Templars plan.

Torquemada is the main enemy in Assassin’s Creed Rebellion

I regret that each mission has a story but written way too small so even though you want to read it, you actually stop reading it…
