Overview

Castle Creeps a free tower defense game on IOS and Android game developed by Outplay Entertainment Ltd. Through the 15 chapters currently available in Castle Creeps, your mission will be to block the advance of the creeps and defend your kingdom.

The story is not out of the ordinary but has the merit to make you want to continue the adventure, improving your troops and towers. The cartoon like graphics are vivid and colorful which make the game agreeable to watch.

Castle Creeps a free to play so you can expect in app purchases. However, I haven’t felt the need to buy anything. When I was waiting for gold to upgrade my towers, I just had to play few easy missions to unlock daily quests rewards and open hero Chest. In addition, once per 24h you get a free Tower and Hero Chest.

All in all, Castle Creeps is a fun tower defense I definitively advice you to give a try.

Gameplay

Castle Creeps gameplay is pretty standard. At the moment, the game is divided in 15 chapters composed of 4 missions. Each chapters takes place in specific locations such as Dragoncross or Dwarfhold.

Similar to most Tower Defense, the objective of each mission will be to stop the creeps to go from point A  to point B by placing units such as soldiers or towers. Each foe killed will grant you points to spend in upgrading your units.

Castle Creeps let you build your defense with 4 types of units :

  • Infantry
  • Magic
  • Bow
  • Cannon

Each unit proposes upgrades to make them more powerful and effective.

To upgrade your units, you will need ressources and gold that you collect from winning battles. Most of the rare resources will be earned by opening heroes chest, that you can buy with real money or unlocked with 5 keys that you can earned by completing daily quest such as « Play 5 missions »

To secure a victory, you will receive helps from Heroes unlocked as you finish chapters. Each hero has specific skills and abilities (magic, strength, healing,…) so up to you to build the best combination as you can only select 2 heroes per mission.

The army of foes is composed of 21 types of creeps (Goblin, Warlock, corrupted knight,…) who will be weak against a certain type of units, hence the strategy part in Castle Creeps. A Goblin will be weak against all towers whereas a Warlock would need to be countered with bow towers.

Music and Sound

There is not much to say about the music and sound in Castle Creeps. The soundtrack is not memorable and well, the sounds are typical from a tower defense: goblins dying, cannon shooting, arrows, spells,…

Lifespan

I think I have been playing not for around 4h and Castle Creeps still interests me. I have reach Chapter 7 so I guess it is going to last again a couple of hours. I haven’t paid for anything yet, so I guess, by spending a couple of dollars, I would have finished the game already.

The good thing nowadays is that developers update their games, adding more chapters, enemies, so replayabilities is always an option. However, content need to be there.

Conclusion

To conclude, Castle Creeps is a sympathetic Tower Defense on IOS and Android. The game mixes Tower Defense and Strategy by letting you upgrade your tower and select carefully your units to effectively counters each type of foes.

The atmosphere reminded me of The Lord of the Rings with battles between Dwarf and Goblins, the warlock, orcs, Lance the charismatic hero,…

I didn’t feel bored playing as when he gets to0 complicated, I just had to play random missions to collect 5 Hero Chest keys and wait 24h to get a free Hero Chest. The content of those 2 chests would give me enough resources and money to upgrade my units and heroes and finally win what would have became a not so difficult mission.

Therefor, that’s one weakness of Castle Clash. It game be too easy. OK there is some strategy, but really complex, and difficulties can easily be overcome by opening 2 chests 🙂

In Any case, I still advise you to give Castle Creep a try as you have fun, and that’s really what we are looking for in a game. Plus, it doesn’t require a permanent internet connection so you can pretty much play anywhere!
