Lineage II has been one of the most popular MMORPG’s to ever grace the metaphorical shelves. While never quite giving World of Warcraft a run for its money, Lineage II has been going for a vast number of years and has only been improved upon over the years. Recently, the team behind the original Lineage II have created Dark Legacy, a mobile-version of the popular franchise. One that takes away from the original MMORPG feel of the game and turns it more into a sort of Gacha, hero collector, dungeon-crawling RPG, allowing for something a little different for fans of the series.

Lineage 2 Dark Legacy

Playing completely different to any other Lineage II game, Dark Legacy has you take control of a party of up-to 4 different characters, allowing you to completely mix and match between the lot as you so choose. Each hero in the game can be levelled to a certain degree, upgraded, and use a variety of unique skills that are available to them alone. Some involve healing your team or buffing them up, others are just straight damaging skills that you’ll need to use to make quick work of each enemy. At the start of each mission you must make your way towards the end of the stage, which, just like any good dungeon-crawler is demonstrated by an end boss – the only enemy during the stage with a massive health bar.

A nice feature of the game is to switch between different heroes, so you don’t just stick to the same one, mashing the attack button. You are free to do as such but mixing and matching between them all prevents the game from becoming too stale. As with any game of this stature, grinding and farming for gear and levels is embedded in its core and while that might not be quite for everyone, anyone who enjoys a good grind in their video games are going to find plenty of content to jump back into on a regular basis.

Lineage 2 Dark legacy RPG Mobile

With the original Lineage II being well over 13 years old at this point, the game really does show its age, but Dark Legacy is anything but. Characters, environments, enemies, and especially skills have all been vastly improved and is a great improvement over Lineage II, a game that’s been considered outdated visually for quite some time. There’s even a fortress building mechanic, similar to other mobile games, such as Clash of Clans, a title that saw great success including that mechanic.

Considering the type of game Lineage II: Dark Legacy is and the team behind it, it isn’t likely going to be a game that’s just thrown onto the App Store and left to defend for itself. The likelihood is the game is going to be receiving new, exciting events in the future, and even exclusive characters that you might not be able to acquire any other way. Grab a couple of friends and team-up to make your stay in Dark Legacy more of a positive experience, as with each update, the game’s only going to give you and your enemies more access to some of the better characters in the entire game, depending on how well you can play.
