There’s a lot to enjoy and love in this game, but at times it feels like you’re not quite progressing to the standard you’d hope or maybe you’re not doing as well as you would expect. To combat this, below I’ve created a comprehensive guide on some tips and tricks that are bound to help in some way, be you a veteran of the game or a complete beginner.

Upgrade the Right Items

As you play throughout the game, you’re bound to gather a whole host of different equipment and items that you can equip and upgrade as you see fit, but you’re going to only want to upgrade items of 3-stars or more. You can upgrade that level 1 sniper if you’d like, but as you continue to push on through the game, you’ll only find out just how much of a waste it can be for your resources. So, don’t waste any resources on 1-star items, as they just don’t have any use later on in the game and you’ll only come to that conclusion if you don’t use your resources on a 3 or 4-star item every chance you get.

Easily Escape the Police

In this game, it’s inevitable to come across the police, considering that you’re walking around with a gun almost the entire time. Eventually, the police will come after you and you’re going to want to escape them, and one of the easiest ways to do that is travel to the nearest airport, steal a helicopter, and then fly out of the police ring on your minimap. Up there, they can’t get you, they can’t reach you, and you’re pretty much safe the entire time until the police finally decide to stop chasing you.

Don’t Replay Missions for 3 Stars

This might be hard to resist, but it is advice that is worth following if you can. Every mission you do can potentially give you a maximum of 3 stars, with a myriad of rewards following you if you manage to do it. However, you’re not always going to get 3 stars the first time around and that’s okay, because you don’t need to keep repeating that mission right then and there. Instead, wait a little while and upgrade your gear as you see fit and then give it another go if you’re feeling up to it. Having improved gear will result in a higher chance of success and you won’t have to waste potential energy doing the same mission over and over again.

Use the Thugs You’ve Got

Are you sick of doing the same mission over and over again? Send one of your thugs out to go and do it for you for a change. This can only be done on missions you’ve already gotten 3 stars on, but sometimes you’ll find that one mission you dread having to do, so feel free to send a thug out to do it instead. Before the mission starts, there will be a percentage bar to say how successful they will be on the mission and it’s a good way of gauging whether or not the thug in question can actually do the job. Once you’ve sent them off to do the mission, wait for the timer to finish and you’ll get some free items without having to do anything and your thug will be available for you to use once again.

Acquire Spirit Jars

Spirit Jars are effectively a random chance to get some sweet, new items for your character, and it’s the reason why it is such an important part of the overall game. Do what you can to get Spirit Jars or shards, such as taking part in events, doing missions, conquering turfs, and all sorts of others. There’s plenty to do to get these jars and the rewards they can get you are practically invaluable, so if an opportunity presents itself to get yourself some Spirit Jars, be sure to take it!

Manipulate Races

Races are a big part of this game, so much so that you can’t actually avoid them if you tried and while they are fun for the most part, it can be quite frustrating to lose out on your third star because one car came out of nowhere and wrecked your new car! To combat this, you can actually take alternate routes in regards to the yellow line that you’re expected to follow in races. A lot of the time you don’t have to follow it exclusively; which means if there’s a giant traffic jam up ahead, try swerving around it by going a route the game doesn’t recommend, because you’re going to be rewarded regardless of how you get there and that’s not something many people tend to realise!
